[Video] Rock star welcome for ‘Bossku’ at final Sandakan ceramah

SANDAKAN: Former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak wa received by an ecstatic crowd at his first ceramah in support of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) candidate Datuk Linda Tsen Friday (May 10) in a bid to defeat DAP in the Sandakan by-election.

Despite the heavy downpour, a strong crowd turned up at the ceramah at the Taman Harmoni People’s Housing Project (PPRT), where many chanted Najib’s signature “Malu apa bossku” (what’s the shame my boss?) slogan.

The enthusiastic crowd, mostly clad in the black “Malu apa bossku” T-shirt, mobbed the 65-year-old the moment he arrived at the ceramah.

Najib received a rock star-like welcome from locals despite facing several corruption charges at present.

Speaking at the ceramah, Najib brought up various blunders involving the Pakatan Harapan government, such as Teresa Kok’s promotion of palm oil and the flying car proposal, among others, to thunderous response from the crowd.

“I love Sabahans. In fact, I’m the prime minister who visited Sabah the most, even more often than the fourth and seventh PM,” he said, in an apparent reference to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He also brought up his achievements for Sabah during his tenure as premier during the Barisan Nasional administration, such as the Pan-Borneo Highway.

“I’m also the father of BR1M and I’m not apologetic for introducing that programme.

“I introduced BR1M not because I wanted to buy votes, not because I thought cash is king, but because I want to help the poor,” he added.

Earlier Friday (May 10), Najib also received a warm response from locals when he visited Giant Supermarket at Bandar Utama here.

The May 11 polls is set to see a five-cornered fight between DAP, PBS and three independent candidates.
