It is a day of revelation for Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as he speaks his mind out, his plans, his concerns and not to be left out, his subtlety in hitting out at Umno’s enemy Anwar Ibrahim.

Najib’s speech did not contain the melodramatic tone nor the tempo of an orator like his political rival Anwar but one thing for sure, Najib passes his message loud and clear and without fanciful elaboration.

And as a man of not many words, Najib did not attempt to rebut Anwar’s allegation on the 40,000 Bangladeshis with so many words which of course would invite more polymics from the opposition.

So he just aired the video of Anwar’s press conference where Anwar alleged that Umno had brought in 40,000 Bangladeshis to vote in the May 5 general election.

Pictures do not lie and how much Anwar would want to rebut, the evidence is there viewed by all, in and out the assembly hall.

Probably that is Najib who is not into debate or argue on nothing as wasting time is not his style.

Since taking over Umno and country in 2009 April, Najib has not stopped working, mending and repairing while at the same time putting on track what he has planned until the May 5 general election where he was ‘played out’ by the Chinese community.

Not giving up, Najib continues his ‘walk’, of course not walking on the park, where even the Malays considered him as ‘forgetting the Malays and the community that helped him out of his doldrums’.

Today, Najib revealed the truth – his main aim and his priority – to empower the economy of the Malays and bumiputra.

Rightly, he said given the fact the Malays and bumiputras comprised 67.9 per cent of the total population, it should be the priority to strengthen their economic status.

“It is pointless to be a developed nation when majority of its population is neglected,” he said in his policy speech.

Emphasising further, Najib stressed that the government had created multiple mediums as instruments to serve the purpose and one such instrument was the Bumiputera Economical Council (MEB) which would meet at least once a month in the presence of other Malay and Bumiputera agencies or bodies.

He added that there would also be the New Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Scheme (Superb), Educational aids and Bumiputera shares.

Given Najib’s emphasis in a policy speech of a gathering of Umno delegates, that means he has been seriously thinking of the welfare of the Malays and bumiputras all this while despite the outlook seemingly his focus is on the Chinese community.

With those instruments in surveillance as well monitoring the development of Malays and bumiputras economic empowering measures, there should be no worry on the direction of the community in the future.

Only problem is how effective these measures will be to ensure it will be a success.
