MY Water Supply App Helps You Plan for the Country’s Water Rationing Exercise

my-water-supply

With water rationing exercises causing all sorts of issues in KL and Selangor, especially among citizens caught unaware of the notices, local developers Backyard Technologies have come up with MY Water Supply, a handy app that alerts users of impending water cuts.

MY Water Supply is especially handy for those in the KL/Selangor area, the two states that are most affected by the ongoing water rationing exercises. The app aggregates information by major districts in the KL/Selangor area, such as Gombak, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam and Kuala Selangor. Tapping on any of these districts will see more specific locations that are affected, where water disruption notices will then appear by date.

Water disruption notices will also be colour coded, where a date highlighted in blue denotes that there are no water disruptions, and red when there is some rationing exercises for that day. The app collects water disruption notices until the end of this month, making it a very useful addition for anyone living inthe affected areas. What’s also good about the app is it can also push reminders to inform users of an impending water disruption, and provide schedules for when water services will resume.

We’ve contacted the developer for more information, especially regarding the sources of the water cut information, and we’ll update the post when we receive a response. [Update] Backyard Technologies have replied, and stated that the information is sourced from Syabas’ website, and will be continuously updated with new features (a new search function is scheduled to be released next week). For now, the app is only available at the Google Play Store, which can be downloaded here.
