Police to investigate Tony Pua over “anjing Umno” remarks

ROS DAN UTUSAN ANJING UMNO

Police will scrutinise the reports lodged by five non-governmental organisations (NGO) against DAP publicity chief Tony Pua before carrying out any investigation on him.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin (pic) said it was to decide whether the man should be investigated under the criminal law or the Sedition Act.

“Only after scrutinising the reports will we decide whether Tony Pua should be investigated under a criminal law or under the Sedition Act 1948,” he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.

He said this in response to Tony Pua allegedly labeling the Registrar of Societies and the Utusan Malaysia newspaper as “anjing Umno” (Umno’s running dog) following the controversy on DAP’s polls for its Central Executive Committee on September 29.

The five NGOs are Selangor NGO secretariat, Pertubuhan Permuafakatan Majlis Ayahanda Malaysia, Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia, Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia and Pertubuhan Gerakan Bersatu 69.

They lodged the reports at the Dang Wangi police headquarters here today.
