Success In Conquering Everest Proves Felda Folks’ Grandeur

The Everest-Felda 2013 mission involving seven climbers completed its objective when five out of seven climbers reached the peak, 8,848 meter above sea level, at 10.15am, May 21, 2013.

This climb sets yet another record in the history of the highest mountain climbing in the world done by Malaysians as it is led by the youngest Muslim woman, Siti Hanisah Sharuddin, at the age of 23 years old.

The expedition is hosted by Kelab Ekplorasi 7 Benua Malaysia (KE7B) with cooperation from Felda Youth Council and sponsored by Felda and Felda Global Ventures Holding (FGVH). KE7B is running the 7 Summit’s Expedition as an attempt to set Malaysia in the world’s climbing field.

Other than Everest, 7 Summit’s Expedition include other mountain climbing such as Mount McKinley (North America), Mount Kilimanjaro (African continent), Mount Elbrus (European continent), Mount Aconcagua (South America), Mount Vinson Massif (Antartica) and Carstensz Pyramid (Oceanic).

The mission can be considered as an interesting one because it involves Felda youths where four of them are trained to be main climbers with long-term objective of developing Everest Speaker & Motivator.

Overall, this mission proves the ability and determination among Felda youths in taking up challenges as well as realizing their dreams.

Even though Felda is often referred to as an ‘isolated’ place where the people are said to have limited social interaction as well as mindset, but that does not mean that they are not able to control the world. Everything is possible with determination and effort.

Climbing the highest peak such as Everest does not just require physical fitness, it requires mental strength as well. And what is more important is the ability to have self-control in taking up challenges other than focus and determination to finish everything that was planned.

Those are vital points which should be taken as guidance for our daily routine as well as lesson for our future.

That is why, the success of Felda conquering Everest is not just a temporary success, instead, it is the benchmark of the ability of Felda youth, which have the same high quality as the brand Felda itself, as a giant international organisation.
