Anwar Wants To Sue All Media #CerobohSabah

anwar-manila sahkan terlibatOpposition Leader, Anwar Ibrahim’s rude and unprofessional action in failing to control his rage during a press conference this morning has led to various questions. Anwar seemed mad towards reporters who asked for his response regarding the report published by international media such as Reuters, Inquirer News, The Manila Times, ABN-News etc.

Television station TV3 and newspaper Utusan Malaysia previously reported on the reports made by the foreign media, regarding Anwar’s involvement with armed intruders in Sabah. The foreign media claimed that they received information from the Philippine military intelligence agency regarding Anwar’s involvement which was claimed to have invited the group to Malaysia.

Following the report, Anwar asked Utusan and TV3 to make an open apology or face RM2 million defamation suit. Considering that the claim came from foreign media, Anwar was asked whether he would also sue them just like how he would do against Utusan and TV3?

Unhappy with the question given to him, Anwar responded to the reporter by saying,”Utusan and TV3 were already sued, (if) you do it again, I will sue you,” he said.

Not just that, Anwar clearly lied when he said that the report made by foreign media only mentioned the possibility that he knows about a meeting between Datuk Seri Najib and Sultan Sulu representative.

However, if we really look into the report, it clearly mentioned the other way around. The following are the reports published by those foreign media.

The third group is allegedly the Malaysian political opposition, which is gearing up for general elections that may be called before June. The intelligence officer said that one member of the Malaysian political opposition allied with Anwar Ibrahim was running for a post in Sabah. Inquirer News, March 1, 2013.

Jacinto also disturbingly writes that “The intrusion occurred just as former Malaysian leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, also Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader, proposed that Sabah be granted autonomy.” Anwar Ibrahim, a Rizalian scholar, is known as a stalwart against the ruling UMNO party-led coalition in Malaysia. Now we should not be involved in the domestic politics of Malaysia – The Manila Times, February 16, 2013.

Question is, why would Anwar be mad if the reports were false? By the end of the press conference, reporters could not help but to question Anwar’s actions. Is this the kind of ‘freedom of the media’ Anwar has been talking about all these while?

With only a single question, not just he failed to respond to it, he even threatened the media by wanting to sue them.
