PROTECT YOURSELF FROM DROPBOX’S RECENT SECURITY BREACH

image

Some weeks ago, a Dropbox employee’s account was hacked into which led to improper access to user accounts of Dropbox members. Interestingly, however, the account names and passwords were not posted online, which made it difficult for Dropbox to confirm the security breach. On the 31st of July Dropbox posted a blog post which confirmed the breach, as well as posting useful information on steps they have taken to prevent them from happening again.

Some of the new security features implemented by Dropbox include two-factor authentication similar to online banking (coming soon), new mechanisms that identify suspicious activity, and a new page which allows users to track all active logins to their accounts. Some affected members may also be prompted to change their passwords.

Of course, we as users are responsible for the security of our own online accounts. With such things, we can never be too careful. Head on over to the first source link below for a guide on changing your Dropbox password and make it better.
