Police Brutality: Bar Council’s President Needs A Taste Of His Own Medicine

Bar Council’s Emergency General Meeting (EGM) that was held last Friday in discussing on BERSIH 3.0 resulted to clash of opinions between members who were present.

A few members of the council criticized the biasness and unprofessional attitude of the Bar Council in discussing the resolution because it was clear the committee is hiding facts from their presentation. In the meeting, they only showed a video where police officers were hitting rioters instead of videos that showed rioters triggered the riot, even though they do have the video.

Based on the incomplete presentation, the Bar Council then decided that the resolution fully blame the police and they did not consider offences committed by organizer and rioters.

Not just that, there were also a few complaints about the presence of chambering students in the EGM who also voted for the motion that was presented although the student has no rights to vote. This somehow sadden a few members of the meeting and they demanded that the meeting should be announced as invalid.

According to the President, Lim Chee Wee, the resolution should not be questioned and those who question the matter can be brought to court. His excuse, members have the right to have different opinions. In other words, Bar Council has the rights to make any decision even if they do hide facts.

If the bar Council themselves do not do things according to the law, why should we respect them as legal practitioners?

Even though Bar Council tried to deny the fact, the public is already aware that they are a proxy to Pakatan Rakyat.

Hence, it is not impossible that their actions were based on the new law that might be introduced by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) if they do control the country.

In their law, anyone who is not happy with any matter, they can demonstrate anywhere they want, disturb anyone and trespass any places to express their feelings. If they are stopped by authorities, they have the rights to use violence and authorities cannot take action against them.

Besides that, this new law also would allow legal practitioners to hide any evidence or facts that do not follow their interest. Sentences can be made even if they listen to one side of the story.

We have seen this with the Bar Council, and during PKR’s election where it brought to a huge fight which resulted to a few leaders and members getting out of the party.

Perhaps the Bar Council should get a taste of their own medicine like what Ambiga, their former President and BERSIH 3.0 supporters went through recently.

When Ambiga was told that a Peaceful Assembly was being held in front of her house, she then went berserk towards all participants.

Perhaps Lim Chee Wee want to get the same thing which is to get a Peaceful Assembly in front of his house. It would be better if the assembly turn violent with participants provoking, challenging, insults and destroys his car and hurt him.

At the same time, the police cannot get involved or they will be charged by the Bar Council as ‘police violence’.What say you, Lim Chee Wee?
